What is Budokon?

Budokon (The way of the warrior spirit) is a mixed movement system combining yoga, mobility, calisthenics, animal locomotion and jiu-jitsu. It was founded by Cameron Shayne in 2001.

Within the Budokon system, Budokon yoga is a unique contemporary style focussing on seamless transitions and the circular nature of martial arts. This creates strength, joint mobility and cardiovascular stamina while also enhancing your balance.

You will recognise some traditional yoga poses within the system but will learn new ways of creating those poses alongside signature BDK transitions such as cobra roll and rolling vinyasa.

Is Budokon Yoga right for me?

Budokon yoga classes are suitable for all levels of ability, whether you have done yoga before or not. It has many similarities to Vinyasa flow yoga. Martial artists will particularly benefit from Budokon yoga, especially those practicing grappling or throwing arts.

Having a decent level of mobility to be able to get on and off the floor is definitely advisable though.
